recipe slightly adapted from The Recipe Critic
Ingredients:
- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 2½ Tbsp cocoa powder
- 1½ tsp cornstarch
- ¾ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 3/4 cup + 2 tbsp of margarine/butter
- 1½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1½ tsp white vinegar
- 1 Tbsp red food coloring ( I could only find purple so I used that which is why you can tell by the pictures that mine were kind of lacking the red in red velvet and were more of a less photogenic brownish purplish)
Beat the margarine/butter and sugar. Add the eggs, vinegar, and food coloring. Mix all the dry ingredients in one bowl. Add together. Drop the cookie dough in teaspoons onto a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for around 20 minutes.

- 2 cups caster sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
